Cry of Wolves Topsite

"Welcome to "Cry of Wolves." The purpose for this Topsite is to emphasize the plight of wolves for survival, create an atmosphere of awareness of the situations that endangered species face, and to promote their well-being.

Early in 2007 our United States Legislators removed the Environmental Protection Act from wolves. Since then wolves have been slaughtered in Alaska, Idaho, and Wyoming without mercy. Methods to slaughter and/or guarantee that these wolves would be slaughtered are to grim to mention here. Those wolves surviving will also be affected because social order of wolves is inevitable to their survial . . . Janice

Personalized graphic awards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners per month will be awarded at the end of each month. The 1st place winner will receive the "Magic Mystique Wolf Stoneware Mug"   Magic Mystique Wolf Stoneware Mug   from "Defenders of Wildlife." PROVIDED THEY WIN WITH A SCORE OF AT LEAST 700 VOTES . Wolves and the Endangered Species Act
In 1973, gray and red wolves were two of the first species placed under federal protections by the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Under these protections, wolf populations have reestablished in portions of the lower 48 states with gray wolves in the northern Rockies and Great Lakes, Mexican gray wolves in the Southwest and red wolves in the Southeast.

More on the Impact of the Endangered Species Act Defenders’ Petitions to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Explore Wolf Restoration Although wolves are making a comeback in portions of the lower 48 states, wolf restoration should continue to be considered in areas of suitable habitat from which they are still absent: the Northeast, southern Rockies and Pacific Northwest.

Defenders has submitted four petitions, which present the many factors that support potential wolf restoration in these areas, to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Western Washington DPS Petition
